Pop Ups are all about exposure. It may be for an artist to display a new series, a fashion designer to launch a new season’s wares or a photographer to bring together past and potential clients. The end goal it to get people talking. In the past seven months I have had the pleasure of planning and organizing three distinct Pop Up events for local entrepreneurs. My roll was multi-faceted. I scouted locations, negotiated leases, played PR man, organized parties, cleaned, budgeted and made money for my clients.
The end outcome for my clients was exposure, which is what every business and entrepreneur is looking for.
Types of exposure included:
- articles in the Ottawa Citizen & Kitchissippi Times
- numerous blog posts
- several tweets and a visit by Mayor Jim Watson (26,000 + followers)
- increased followers on social media
- mentions on CBC Radio 1
Why should you use a planner for your Pop-Up? Having someone to look after all the details is invaluable. Do you know the LCBO regulations for serving alcohol? Do you have experience in negotiating short term leases? Do you have contacts for unique rentals to outfit an empty space into a retail outlet? An experienced planner does!
